#TheFireRises Emerges As First Dark Knight Rises Viral

Warner Bros. announced the beginning of principal photography for The Dark Knight Rises, and also unleashed the first part of its viral campaign.

Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. have fired their first salvo in the war to be the most intricate and complex viral marketing campaign yet.  And our response is just like our boy Christian's to the right.  Steeley-eyed confusion.

An official site, of sorts, went up at TheDarkKnightRises.com.  There's nothing on it.

Nothing, that is, if you don't have your speakers turned up.  If you do you'll hear. . . something.

But what is it?  To me it sounds like spooky chanting of some sort.  Or maybe a hundred people poorly making the Friday the 13th cch-cch-cch ahh-ahh-ahh sound.

Could that be the mystery of the film?  Not the Lazarus Pits everyone is suggesting - but that Bruce Wayne goes to camp?

There's a bomb on two canoes.  One with campers, the other with the bad counselors whose breath smells funny after lights out.

But according to our friends at JoBlo, some joker in the comments at SuperHeroHype really checked under the cowl of this thing and discovered that if you put the audio through some kinda Lucius Fox computer, the soundwaves spell out #TheFireRises.

Yeah, I don't really understand how that works either.  But I'm happy to send out a tweet with that hashtag if it helps stop crime in Gotham.  Someone's gotta do something about the scum in this town.

UPDATE!

Guess what happens when you Tweet the hashtag?  Well, I don't really know, because this story is moving too quick.  All I know is a friend pointed me to thedarkknightrises.com/image where you can add to a mosaic of. . . .a picture!

But while the mosaic is currently being built, the picture actually leaked.  Whoopsie?  Here's Tom Hardy as Bane.

So muscular! And look at his spine! And he's wearing a weird S&M mask!
