Despite throwing Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson at the problem, Marvel has yet to find real success with a Punisher movie. So, it should come as no surprise that Nasser Group North and Caliber Media Co. are attempting to fill the void with their flick Recoil.
The movie stars "Stone Cold" Steve Austin as an ex-cop whose family is murdered by the mob, and then sets out for vengeance. One might say that he's looking to punish those responsible. Meanwhile, Danny Trejo will play a criminal who has his sights set on Austin's character, and will more than likely call his rival "ese," "cabron" or if we're very lucky, both.
Who else thinks they should put a wig on Austin for this role?
Variety reports that the film will be written by John Sullivan (some horror movies you've never heard of) and directed by Terry Miles (some other stuff you haven't heard of), so at least they're reaching for the stars with this new film. Though we haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, the flim's story and name are identical to the low-budget 1998 Recoil, so presumably it's based on that film, which is also basically just The Punisher, so whatever.
