Vitals

Having lived in New York for nearly a decade, it's fair to say that I've seen some strange, strange sh*t. Between the subways and the alleyways, there are corners you can turn in Manhattan that feel like you've just wandered into Labyrinth.  Many of those corners are near and around Tribeca. So when this year's Tribeca Film Festival rolls into town, should you stroll into the center of some intersection and see a seven-foot-tall, greenish-looking troll, we assure you that it's not the local homeless dude.

It's Shrek.

The TFF announced recently that Shrek Forever After, the fourth and supposedly final chapter in DreamWorks' ongoing family fairy tale, will open the 2010 festival on April 21st. And in 3D, no less! Actually, considering that everything seems to come in 3D these days, we're not surprised at all.

"We have always sought to open our festival with films that are captivating and strike an emotional chord with moviegoers. Shrek Forever After combines the very best storytelling and artistry, while showcasing the wonders of 3D filmmaking," said Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the festival.

Staring Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and Antonia Banderas - each as alternate-world versions of their classic characters - Shrek Forever After opens in theaters on May 21, 2010.

Are you excited for the next Shrek or have you already checked out?
