Shia's Trash Cannes! Which of His Films Is He Calling LeBarf?

Shia admits the last Indiana Jones picture came from the Kingdom of the Crystal Suck.

At the le Festival de Cannes in, um, Cannes, Shia LaBeouf was on hand to promote his newest picture Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.  Perhaps it was the laissez-faire attitude of the Croisette, but LeBeouf did something you just aren't supposed to do:  he went off the script.

He basically trashed his two previous films made by highly influential power-players in Hollywood.  That the two pictures, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull both made enormous gobs of money no doubt softened the blow.

It's pretty rare something like this happens.  I vaguely remember Spike Lee going on morning chat shows around the time Clockers came out and referring to it as "my worst film yet."

Frankly, I don't know if my fragile mind can handle these cracks in the mirror.  If actors and directors can't stick to their talking points when hyping a movie, what is there left in this world that is truly reliable?

Yes, I suppose it is nice to know that Shia - who seems very much to be a sharp kid - actually has sense enough to know that he's made some dull product, but how far away are we from celebs doing a round of mea culpas after every time they lay an egg.  Not everyone can be Paul Verhoeven, smiling his way through the Razzies.

What do you think?  Should actors and directors come clean and apologize for their flops, or keep their chin up and just continue working?  And will you see Indy 5?
