Why did it take me so long to appreciate the comedic stylings of Sean William Scott? At some point I put the kibosh on snobbery and learned to love Scott's bizarre, manchild antics on display in flicks like American Pie, Dude, Where's my Car?, The Rundown, Role Models, and now Cop Out, where steals the show right from under the buddy cop's noses.
He may not be the most in-demand actor working in Hollywood, but it sounds like he doesn't really care. Having heard from Kevin Smith that he could be the lead in his upcoming hockey coemdy Hit Somebody, it sounds like Scott's just looking to have some fun!
On nabbing the part of Dave:
"It was one of the only movies I've ever gotten a straight
up offer for. I have to fight for a lot
of things. Like, American Pie 2 got me The
Rundown. Road Trip happened because Todd Philips liked American Pie. This just
came out of the blue. [laughter] I
talked to Johnny Knoxville and he was like, 'I auditioned for that,' and I was
like - [evil giggle]."
On coming back for American
Pie 4:
"I might. I'll keep
developing it, you know? I've been
working on it for a year and a half, there's an idea. I don't know if I will ultimately, I mean, if it's awesome. At this point, I realize I'm not Russell
Crowe, so if it's really funny...if it's done for the right reasons, to see these
guys at 28 or 30 years old, it could be great.
Or it could be terrible.
Everyone would be back, but I don't really know what we'll do."
On his smaller movies:
"I'm doing a French movie, with Xavier Gens called The
Fallout. It's a darker film for
me. [My character] ends up really
crazy. But I also did four other movies
that were smaller. Like Southland Tales, nobody saw, and if they
did they were angry. Promotion, nobody saw. Gary
the Tennis Coach may not have come out.
Trainwrecked didn't come
out. It's like...American Pie 4."
On tackling a superhero movie:
"[laughter] Are you serious? Oh yeah, that'd be awesome!
There are some people who believe in me. There are other people who say, 'you drank cum in a movie.'"
