Ron Perlman Joins Nic Cage For 'Season of the Witch'

Ryan Kavanaugh's Relativity Media, LLC and Atlas Entertainment announced today that Ron Perlman will join Nicolas Cage in the upcoming film Season of the Witch. The supernatural thriller, from writer Bragi Schut, Jr, will be directed by Dominic Sena (Gone in Sixty Seconds, Swordfish). Golden Globe®-winning and Emmy®-nominated actor Perlman is best known for his portrayal of the title character in the Hellboy franchise. The film will be produced by Charles Roven and Alex Gartner.

Season of the Witch tells the story of 14th-century knights transporting a girl suspected of being the witch who has spread the Black Plague. Production is scheduled to commence in early November 2008 in Austria and Hungary. Perlman will play the role of "Felson." Additional casting for the film includes Stephen Campbell Moore (The Bank Job) as "Debelzaq," Claire Foy (the BBC's Little Dorrit) as "The Girl," and Robbie Sheehan (Independent Television's Rock Rivals) as "Kaylan."

Relativity Media, LLC executive produced and co-financed the successful Perlman vehicle Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Season of the Witch marks the second collaboration between Atlas and Relativity. Earlier in 2008, the two companies shared great success with The Bank Job, starring Jason Statham. Roven and Cage previously worked together on 1998's City of Angels, which grossed nearly $200 million worldwide.

Ron Perlman's television show, Sons of Anarchy, was recently picked up for a second season by FX. He recently starred opposite John Malkovich in The Mutant Chronicles. In 2009, Perlman will star in The Job opposite Joe Pantoliano, and opposite Demi Moore and Josh Hartnett in Bunraku. Perlman is managed by Kritzer Levine Wilkins Entertainment and is represented by attorney Dave Feldman.
