With the huge flood of superhero movies coming out this summer and next, including DC's Green Lantern, we were kind of thinking that the market was just about saturated with the stuff. Pamount seems to disagree with us though, as they've just acquired the rights to the DC Comic, The Mighty.
The media-savvy amongst you might be saying to yourself, "Self, why would DC Comics, a company owned by Warner Bros., farm out its intellectual property to an entirely different studio?" To which those of you with more media-savvy selves will most likely reply "This book was semi-creator-owned, dummy, so the guys who did it got to negotiate their own deal. Shouldn't you be looking for a job anyway?"

Will someone get their shit together and just make a Matter-Eater Lad flick already?
The comic book series is kind of a twist on typical superhero fare, where the superpowered guy is actually the heel, and the one trying to stop him is a regular dude. The original series was cowritten by Peter Tomasi and Keith Champagne. Tomasi is best known for his runs on Green Lantern Corps and Batman and Robin, both at DC, while Champagne has been involved in a number of projects as both a writer and inker. The Mighty was drawn by Peter Snejbjerg and Chris Samnee.
