Guide to Nightmare Neighbors

In anticipation of Samuel L. Jackson's role as Abel Turner in Lakeview Terrace, UGO salutes other nightmare neighbors in movies, television and games.

Samuel L. Jackson will soon be making life a living hell for his new neighbors in Lakeview Terrace, the story of a cop who will stop at nothing to drive out the interracial couple from his private community. In anticipation of Jackson's turn as the sinister Abel Turner, we take a look at some other nightmare neighbors that have made the sanctuary of one's home seem dubious at best. Lakeview Terrace opens September 19, 2008.

Robbie the Rabbit in Silent Hill 4: The Room (2004)

Robbie was introduced to survival horror gamers in Silent Hill 3, and the rascally rabbit has one of the more quietly frightening moments in Silent Hill 4: The Room. Throughout the game, our hero, Henry Townshend, has been able to spy on his hot neighbor, Eileen Galvin, through a peephole in the wall between their two apartments. As Henry descends deeper into the nightmare world of Silent Hill, so too does Eileen, and eventually she's snatched away completely into the dark abyss. After her kidnapping, Henry checks on her bedroom through the peephole, and the only thing there is Robbie the Rabbit sitting on the bed, staring with his big, empty eyes, that freaky smile on his face, pointing an accusing finger toward the peeping tom. What does that gesture mean? "I see you?" "It's your fault?" "Go away?" Shudder.
