New Pixar 3D Short In Theaters Today

Presumably in an effort to boost Bolt's box office take, Disney is giving those still holding out a new reason to check out the 3D release -- the first ever 3D Pixar short. Beginning today, prints of Bolt will begin with "Tokyo Mater," an all-new 3D animated short.

Directed by Pixar founder and Chief Creative Officer of Disney animation John Lasseter, Tokyo Mater is tale of how Mater, gets challenged to a race and becomes the drifting king of Tokyo after towing a stranded car to Japan

Owen Wilson and the late Paul Newman (who gave voice to Lightning McQueen and Doc Hudson in the 2006 film) have been replaced with sound-alike actors, but fear not -- our star is once again voiced by Larry the Cable Guy.

Although CARS is on many lists as the least-enjoyed of Pixar's library -- it's still of great interest to sneak a peak at how Pixar will utilize 3D before UP delivers the real goods in May. See ya there!
