The Further Adventures of Megatron

Megatron is the complicated antagonist to the paragon of Auto-Goodness, Optimus Prime.  Unlike Prime, Megatron has had to work for everything he's accomplished and even then he often comes out on the bottom. Maybe it is because he is a gun.

Defeated by Shockwave

Hail Schockwave, Decepticon Commander Supreme! We function for you and you alone!!

When you lead the Autobots, the only decision you need to make is what kind of trailer you want to haul around or should you have skin-on potato salad at the next picnic with the guys from GI Joe.

But being a Decepticon leader ain't easy. Megatron not only needs to put up with a constantly mutinous, but dangerously inept Starscream, he also needs to contend with the more powerful Shockwave. Not to be confused with Megatron BFF Soundwave, Shockwave is also a giant gun who on more than one occasion, starting in Marvel's The Transformers Issue #6, takes control of the Decepticons.

I am sure Megatron spends many a sleepless night pondering why the creators would make a Decepticon who was similar to him, yet better in almost every way. It the type of thing I ponder about my older brother almost every day.

Enter Galvatron

Before a society can move forward, everyone must agree on the rules. Now kneel!

In Transformers: The Movie, Megatron has his greatest victory followed by an embarrassing defeat that will lead to his rebirth as Galvatron.

While killing Optimus Prime, Megatron takes a hit from Big Red that leaves him at death's door and, as the Decepticons were leaving the battle, Starscream leaves Megatron to die in the vastness of space. But it is not so easy to kill Megatron (he has almost as many lives as Prime). Megatron is promised a powerful new body by the Chaos bringer, Unicron. He reluctantly accepts and in a scene that resembles my Windows 95 screensaver, he becomes Galvatron!

Megatron vs. Spider-Man

We have a new title, what should we do? Add Spider-Man?

Spider-Man does not seem like he would be much competition for a multi-ton robot from outer space and, in the end Megatron does "triumph", but ol' webhead certainly does hold his own and then some.

In Marvel's The Transformers Issue #3 Spidey teams up with the Autobot Gears in an attempt to foil Megatron and the Decepticons. The duo are able to take down the other Decepticons, but they are no match for the mighty Megatron. He breaks free of Spider-Man's puny webbing and then shoots a perfectly round hole (guy has talent) in the floor of his ship. This sends both Gears, Spider-Man and Sparkplug Witwicky tumbling to Earth and one of them will land very hard.
