Links At Lunch - 03/11/09

Ahoy. Today we start a new daily (or close to it) feature. Years ago, lunch meant sitting with a group of friends and discussing the important events of the day. Now it means stuffing a sandwich in your face and trying not to get Utz Crab Chip crumbs in your keyboard. Don't know where to surf while you eat? Here's what I suggest.

  • Indiewire announces the non-competing films at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. The competing films are always boring PC crap from Iran, but the non-competing films actually include movies people actually want to see. This year's list includes Stephen Soderbergh's raincoat-friendly The Girlfriend Experience starring Sasha Grey, Black Dynamite, Moon, and films directed by Eric Bana (a documentary about cars) and a new one from dude who made L.I.E..

  • Perhaps you've heard buzz about PDF files from George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Lawrence Kasdan's early Raiders of the Lost Ark story conferences are on the web, but you don't know where to find them? They are here. And worth peeking at.
  • Chud.com got Knowing director Alex Proyas to bitch and moan publically about specific people at a specific studio. Nice to see someone go on the record.
  • This on a tip from our friend K. Thor Jensen. Photos (one, two) of Charlton Heston's gun room. Insane.
  • SciFiWire has pics of the book cover of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy sequel. Our initial reaction was a heavy WTF at the thought of someone other than Douglas Adams writing this book (which is called And Another Thing...) but then we realized it was Artimis Fowl's Eoin Colfer. We will reserve judgement (and raise a pan-galactic gargle blaster if this turns out to be any good.)
  • Cracked.com has a feature celebrating the art of taking famous photos and turning them into hard rock album covers. Hence the Demon Child Che above.
  • Keira Knightley fans can check out an exclusive interview with Ed Douglas at ComingSoon.net, wherein they discuss the music of Al Bowlly.
  • Hardcore movie nerds, please take a deep breath before you check this out. Subterranean Cinema has linked to the final shooting draft of the script of the most famous movie no one has ever seen - Jerry Lewis' The Day The Crown Cried as well as a video of the only known images from the film. If you don't know anything about this movie, the basics are this: clowns, children, Auschwitz. Directed by Jerry Lewis.
  • Lastly, enjoy our That Guy of the Day!
