With Marvel steadily establishing a solid film universe, DC has some catching up to do if they want to match the powerhouse that will be 2012's The Avengers. Could a Justice League finally be in DC's sights?
ComingSoon.net has a teasingly ambiguous quote from DC superstar Geoff Johns (who is famous for writing every single comic that the company now puts out) straight from his WonderCon panel.
"I can't talk about it," says the author, "We'll talk in San Diego."
You're going to have to decide for yourself where your interpretation is going to fall, but the gamut pretty much runs between "he's stalling for time and the company has absolutely nothing planned" or "OMG! A Justice League movie is going to be announced at Comic-Con in July!"
A JLA team-up film has been rumored for quite a while but nothing has really developed since the canned George Miller project. Though Marvel's certainly got a lot of flair on the road to The Avengers, DC is no slouch; The Dark Knight is still one of the most successful films of all time and Christopher Nolan is now said to be "grandfathering" a Superman film as well. Throw in the upcoming Green Lantern (not to mention the questionably DC canonical The Losers and Jonah Hex) and it may not be entirely a bad idea to just make quality films and worry about crossover potential later.
