It looks like Jake Gyllenhaal is going to take a trip to the moon. The Brokeback Mountain and Zodiac actor has hitched his trailer to Doug Liman's Untitled Moon Project for DreamWorks. The action movie is about a private voyage to the moon, kind of like the new X-Prize being offered now, and how it begins a new race to explore Earth's closest celestial body. The screenplay was written by John Hamburg and director Liman and then Mark Bowden (Black Hawk Down) was called in to do a rewrite.

Liman is a director who doesn't seem capable of doing any wrong. He directed the The Bourne Identity and got Matt Damon's spy franchise off the ground; he helmed Mr. and Mrs. Smith which wound up getting Brad and Angelina to eventually hook up together; and his next movie, the sci-fi thriller Jumper about a young man who can teleport (played by Star Wars' Hayden Christensen) comes out early next year. It would also be cool to see another moon movie done with today's CGI. Wasn't Apollo 13 the last one we got? Has it been that long?
