This may be limited only to art-house hipster boyfriends, but those guys have to watch girl movies, too. Amélie is a typical good samaritan story (she brings happiness to others, but who will bring happiness to her?) that sets itself apart with whimsy, interesting visuals, and a dash of magical realism for good measure. It's also about as French as a film can get, so you get a little multiculturalism under your belt as a bonus.

Simply put, both Amélie and Amélie look beautiful, so long as you don't mind slightly wacky movies featuring women who resemble little elf children. It's one of those films you will either like or really hate.
