It's been a while since the words "Ghost Rider sequel" have cropped up around these parts, but it looks like talks are beginning to heat up again (like it or not, fanboys).

According to a report on THR's Heat Vision, not only is Nicolas Cage "in early negotiations to reprise his role as Johnny Blaze," [a.k.a. the Ghost Rider], but Columbia Pictures may also be in early negotiations with the writer/director team behind the Crank franchise, namely Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. While further details regarding the Ghost Rider sequel (titled Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) are scarce, the source does point out that Columbia hopes to get principal photography going by late fall.

Before this latest batch of Rider related rumors popped up on browsers, fans of the budding franchise (there are fans out there, right?) had only heard the Cage was keenly interested in reprising his role as the hellbent superhero, but also that higher-ups related to the property were considering moving forward on a sequel without the star.  It should also be noted that Neveldine and Taylor served as scriptwriters on Jonah Hex, so take that info for what it's worth.
