Hot on the heals of yesterday's big Lone Ranger announcement by the House of Mouse comes a scoop from Aint It Cool News that George Clooney may possibly star as The Lone Ranger to Johnny Depp's Tonto.
"Word as of now is that George Clooney has shown a lot of interest in the role of the Lone Ranger, and the studio's been talking to him about it. Previously it was rumored that Nic Cage was up for the role, but that rumor died a long time ago. Clooney's name has come up quite a number of times since."
Of course this is just an unconfirmed rumor and may be only in the talking stages at the moment and far from a done deal. How about you? What do you think about a Depp / Clooney team up? Any other names come to mind that you'd like to see cast along side Johnny Depp in this Gore Verbinski directed Jerry Bruckheimer production?
Me? I say let Depp play both roles. Depp as Tonto alongside Depp as the Ranger. Now that would be something that would intrigue me.
