I collect spores, molds, and fungus.
In the original Ghostbusters we learn that Egon likes to study mold and spores, which I guess makes him a fun guy -- You see what I did there? Anyway, in issue #1 of 88 MPH's Ghostbusters we find out that mold is old hat and that Egon now dedicates his free time to studying coral. I never figured Egon to be one to follow trends, but I was reading in Entertainment Weekly that studying genetically identical polyps is IN; studying spores, molds, and fungus is so 5 MINUTES AGO; and making decent sequels is OUT.
I ain't 'fraid of no stairs.
There aren’t many things that scare our fearless Ghostbuster, but there is one. Is it demons? No sweat. How about ghost monkeys? Don't make me laugh. In Ghostbusters: The Video Game we find out that Egon has developed an unnatural fear of stairs after climbing over 30 flights on his way to fight Gozer in the original Ghostbusters. It's kind of nice that after fighting a legion of ghosts and marshmallow death that Egon can cultivate a simple fear from such a commonplace object. Like my mother says, Sometimes it's the little things in life.
Science is everywhere.
In issue #2 of 88 MPH's Ghostbusters we discover Ghostbuster Ray Stanz's obsession with unraveling the mystery behind the secret sauce at a fast-food joint called Krazy's. After battling a nasty ghost, he finally gets a sample before learning that Egon already knows the secret sauce recipe. How did he know? Egon picked up that knowledge while performing strange and unnamed Fryer Experiments when working at Krazy's in his youth.
