New Piranha Flick to Bring Audiences Twice the Ds

Last year, Piranha 3D taught viewers to be terrified of small, carnivorous fish. This year, Piranha 3DD will do the same, but with larger fish, and presumably more breasts.

Even if you've never heard of last year's Piranha 3D, you can almost everything you need to know from the title: It's a gory, ridiculous, over-the-top bit of three-dimensional marine horror. The film's sequel, Piranha 3DD, has improved upon that formula by ensuring that audiences will no longer be unclear on whether the film features some giant breasts (it probably does).

Director John Gulager (Project Greenlight Season Three's Feast) has begun filming with a cast that includes Adam McKay favorite David Koechner, Danielle Panabaker (from horror flicks Friday the 13th and The Crazies), the guy who's going to play Flash Thompson in the new Spider-Man movie and a bunch of other folks most reasonable people have never heard of.

Isn't a giant piranha just a shark?

While the new film boasts bigger, meaner piranhas that somehow get inside the pipes at a water park (seriously), it doesn't appear to have the high caliber of cameos as Piranha 3D. Currently there's no one in the cast who can compete with Richard Dreyfus, Christopher Lloyd, Elisabeth Shue, Eli Roth or even Jerry O'Connell, but Ving Rhames is reportedly planning on returning to his acclaimed role of Deputy Fallon.

Additionally, Mark Salling (Puck on Glee) is in talks to join the cast as well, which should make fans of the insufferable musical schmaltz-a-thon happy. If you hate Glee, Salling's appearance is a mixed blessing, as he'll surely remind you of the show, but you'll probably get to see him devoured by large tiny fish.
