Diablo Cody is perhaps one of the most discussed writers
I've ever encountered. Absent an unusual talent for urbane witticisms, many argue that she's
left with virtually no other tools in her bag of writerly tricks; others agrue that she's a fresh voice in the field. And yet she
continues to get work: a version of The
Taming of the Shrew over at Paramount, an adaptation of the Sweet Valley High series at Universal,
her continuing Showtime series The United
States of Tara, as well as her new project, Young Adult.
According to The
Hollywood Reporter, the film "involves a thirtysomething, divorced,
young-adult fiction writer in Minneapolis who returns to her hometown to chase
the ex-boyfriend, who's now married with a kid, that got away." The project
will reteam her with some of her Juno producers over at Mandate and is currently being fast-tracked to find a
director.
We're sure that Jason Reitman would probably be willing to
take somebody else's credit again...Why not pick up the phone?
Diablo Cody's a Young Adult
However, the writer's new script is not for young adults.
