Drew and John Erick Dowdle know their horror. Having written Quarantine and directed The Poughkeepsie Tapes, the brothers depart from their docu-style shockers with Devil, a movie masterminded by M. Night Shyamalan. As you might have assumed, the movie's full of twists and turns, so much so that I was completely in the dark when I had the chance to talk to the directing duo...
Matt Patches: I'm going to start by saying I have not seen the movie yet, and I'm not sure anyone has.
Drew Dowdle: Nobody has. You're not alone.
Matt
Patches: It's a mystery - so what's the spoiler-free rundown of Devil?
John Dowdle: Sure. The film is five people get trapped in an elevator and one of them might be the devil.
Matt Patches: Simple. Effective.
John Dowdle: That's the short synopsis.
Drew Dowdle: A Philadelphia detective is called to the scene after
someone gets hurt in the elevator and he proceeds to observe the goings on in
the elevator from the security office with the security guards and they start
to investigate the people in the elevator and they learn more about their past
and the possibility that there could be something greater at play here.
