Sometimes in the world of entertainment press, you really have to get mean. I'm talking take no prisoners, get ir done kinda stuff. Just such an event occurred when things got a little dicey in the red carpet pressline for Sylvester Stallone's new homage to '80s action flicks, The Expendables.
"Ya know, this is my third or fourth time coming to Comic-Con, coming from the world that I came from," said Steve Austin, the big badass bad guy body guard to Eric Robert's greasy druglord character. "This is right up up my demographic and I love coming here."
Austin was right about one thing, his world got a little closer to reality as the PR wranglers decided to cut the one-on-one interviews shorter to speed up the process before The Expendables panel Thursday night.
As the cameramen started to squeeze together, the rangy media professionals started to jostle for position. And things got aggressive.
"All talent and producers down!" shouted some guy in a Hawaiian print shirt from the local news.
"Wow," said Sly. "You guys are getting serious."
It was then that the question was posed of who could beat up who amongst the cast of killers.
"Oh, I would never mess with Terry Crews," said Austin.
As we looked over, the Old Spice Body Wash pitchman was flex-bouncing his pecks and bringing people to the "gun show."
Austin's trepidation was ironic however, seeing as how he broke his bosses neck while filming.
"When the writer and director tells you to kick his ass, you kick his ass."
And that's the bottom line.
