People really need to get off this whole Paul W.S. Anderson
bandwagon because, frankly speaking, I'm tired of having to wade through three
paragraphs of how much the guy sucks before every news story I read about a
movie he's making. Event Horizon was decent; Death Race was mindlessly enjoyable; AvP was still more enjoyable than the
sequel and Resident Evil, while not
the George Romero film for which fanboys were hoping, certainly wasn't any
better or worse than most middle-of-the-road horror flicks made by lesser
directors who don't take half the crap hoisted upon Anderson.
According to Deadline, Anderson is developing a 3D version
of Buck Rogers for Paradox, the
company currently behind Marcus Nispel's Conan remake. The film, which will be written by Iron
Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, will tell the old, familiar story
of Buck Rogers, a fighter pilot who is transported to the 25th Century where he must assist in defending the planet. Rogers has a rich
narrative history:
The character launched
in the 1920s and has been the subject of comic books, radio and movie serials,
and two TV series, the latter of which ran on NBC and starred Gil Gerard.
Anderson is currently working on an adaptation of The Three Musketeers that we imagine
will really be nothing at all like the source material. But check back with UGO
for more on Buck Rogers as
development continues.
