It's usually in documentaries about old Hollywood when people talk about movies based on which studio released them.  "That was an MGM picture!" is the type of thing no moviegoer would ever say about something coming out currently.

Today, however, if you see something stamped MAGNET, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, you can bet it is a mark of quality.  These are the folks who brought Let The Right One In, Timecrimes, Bronson, Centurion and a bunch of other off-center pictures to American audiences.

Early next year comes a Medieval horror picture from the director of Triangle and Severance set amidst the European Black Death.  It is called, naturally, Black Death

All I know about it is that a young British monk must uncover the truth about people returning from the dead amidst the bubonic plague.  That, to me, means it'll be gross, quasi-historical and loaded with religious iconography in a horror context.  Sean "Boromir" Bean is in it, as well as the hottie Carice van Houten, who was the lead in Paul Verhoeven's Black Book (and, more importantly, is Milhous van Houten's sister.)

Black Death will be straming (on XBox Live, Amazon, iTunes, Playstation and On-Demand) on Feb 4, then in theaters on March 11.)

We're proud to debut the rather iconic looking poster, which you can see below.  Click on it to see it extra huge.
