Quentin Tarantino's lesser-known Jackie Brown hit theaters in 1997, and rabid fans would have to wait six years before they had another dose of the auteur's unique blend of cineaste homage and colorful storytelling -- but most would agree, it was well worth the wait.

Tarantino brought his Kill Bill and its stars, including the elegant badass Uma Thurman, to the 2003 San Diego Comic-Con aimed and ready to blow the minds of film buffs and action fanatics alike. The double feature wears its love for all things movies on its sleeve, leaving no genre untouched while using all the magic of cinema to tell its story of revenge. Kill Bill might be the closest thing to inside Tarantino's head we'll ever see.

And it all starts here: a bleeding Bride in crisp black & white, savaged by her former allies and, with a bullet placed squarely in her skull, left to die.

But she doesn't -- and so begins Tarantino's kung fu epic.
