We arrived at the auspicious heights of 68th and Broadway tonight to speak directly to fans that were there to see the special 17-minute preview of Avatar, James Cameron's long-awaited epic. The teaser trailer was released yesterday to some tepid reactions, and we wanted to hear exactly what the real fans were expecting.
We spoke to some truly enthusiastic Cameron fans, who all seemed to bond over the prospect of seeing something, anything, by the long-dormant auteur of such groundbreakers like The Abyss, Terminator 2, True Lies and yes...even Titanic. Almost to a person, they weren't there for the much-talked about 3D experience, and the supposedly life-changing graphics. They wanted to worship at the altar of wonder achieved by some of the past 20 years finest Sci-Fi films.
So did the advanced footage live up to the 14 years of hype and hyperbole? Let's talk to the fanboys and find out...
