Another Glimpse Into The Mist

This is the final one-sheet for The Mist, Frank Darabont's movie version of the Stephen King novella that I have been so jazzed about. Really dig it. I figured that the poster for The Mist would probably be a Thomas Jane surrounded by fog and a tentacle or three but this is gorgeous. It really captures the sense of mystery and fear of the unknown. Those circle rings floating in the sky and the unearthly glow get top marks from me. It's great to see Weinstein try and market this film this way instead of going for the simple and done-to-death floating heads that we get on far too many movie posters.

If you're still unsure about what this one's about, imagine being stuck inside a grocery store when a strange mist settles all around the outside. Inside the fog are horrible creatures like out of one of your nightmares and they like to eat people. How long could you survive trapped inside the store? How would you barricade the shop to stop the creatures from getting in? And what if the people inside turn out to be the greater threat to your life than whatever lies out in the mist? It's one of King's best works, a lean, mean fighting prose machine that doesn't let up for over 100 pages. Darabont has also added a new ending to his version of The Mist that continues King's story onward for a little while more.

The Mist opens on November 21.
