What are they gonna call this one? Pepper!? Oh, we like to have fun here at UGO.com - but you already knew that. Hilarious salt jokes aside, Deadline is reporting that Sony does indeed have plans to make a sequel to the 2010 thriller Salt. Angelina Jolie reportedly already wants to be involved, and giving that it will be her second go-around with the character, we can probably look forward to a more "refined" performance. Sorry, we're stopping now.
The writer of the original movie, Kurt Wimmer, is said to already be working on the script for the sequel, which will presumably pick up where the first left off, following Jolie's eponymous sleeper agent. The end of the first installment does leave things nicely open for a sequel, but we won't spoil it for you. Besides, you know what prevents food from spoiling, right? SALT! Ok, that one was kind of a stretch.
Hopefully Jolie can get through the sequel without any "salty" language.
Seeing as the original film grossed $300 million worldwide, a Salt sequel would appear to be a pretty good investment for Sony. As of right now there's no word on the film's plot, release date or even who else might appear in the flick. That said, Wimmer is definitely signed on to write the screenplay, which is excellent news. Salt of the earth, that guy. Ugh, we hate ourselves.
