Q: I don’t think I’ve ever seen an action sequence in a film with a man in pajamas before. I’m just kind of curious about their genesis. The selection process. . .

Johnny Depp: I wanted footy pajamas but they didn’t really go for it. I think initially the guy was supposed to be in either a towel or in his underpants, I can’t remember but it was something about the image of a groomed man in jammies that looked like Wally Clevaer’s.

Q: Right, they were not Venice pajamas.

Johnny Depp: They looked like they were from Leave it to Beaver’s dad's drawer. That imagery juxtaposed with the background of Venice I just thought there was something really funny about it so I went for it.
