Ken Russell's 1980 psychological chiller Altered States is practically begging for a remake, given the amount of dabbling human beings have been doing with their consciousness since the movie was released. The flick tells the tale of a psychology professor (played by William Hurt in his first movie role) who experiments with sensory deprivation and finds his body and mind undergoing horrific devolution. The original is creepy and horrifying, but it's also sometimes hamstrung by the hokey visual effects. We'd love to see what a creature shop with real oomph could do with it.
