Baldur

We tell you everything you need to know about the upcoming Xbox 360 RPG Too Human.

Baldur
Baldur

In classical Norse mythology, Baldur the Brave was the most popular man in Asgard. This radiant warrior was the patron deity of light, warmth and kindness, and was so loved by his fellow Asgardians that the goddess Frigga made every animal, plant and object in the world promise that they would never harm him. However, the trickster Loki was jealous of Baldur's popularity and found the one thing in the world that could harm him - a sprig of mistletoe that had been overlooked by Frigga's promise. Obtaining the wood, Loki tricked Baldur's blind brother Hod into throwing a dart of mistletoe into his heart, killing him instantly.

Odin, lord of the Asgardians, petitioned the goddess of death Hel to return Baldur to life, and she agreed, upon the condition that every living thing on Earth must weep for him. The animals, plants, gods and humans all did so, their salty tears covering the Earth, but wicked Loki again interfered, refusing to cry and damning the brave warrior to the Underworld forever.

In the game world of Too Human, Baldur is the least cybernetically enhanced of all the Aesir, mistrusting the abilities that technology gives his fellows. As such, he is closest to the ordinary humans, who love and respect him a great deal. He acts as a leader not only to the combat forces of the gods, but also inspires the unenhanced humans to take arms against their machine aggressors.

But as the story goes on, Baldur must make a choice - will he use the mechanical gifts of Yggdrasil to enhance his body and give him the power that he needs to fight back the hordes, or will he keep to his principles and maintain his humanity? Each choice leads to a very different outcome for Baldur and the gods of Asgard - and that choice is in your hands.
