Electronic Arts' upcoming NBA Jam will be
available as a standalone game on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3,
despite past reports to the contrary. The news comes as part of a larger
blog post by EA Sports head Peter Moore, who said that a
"standalone product" would be available for the consoles "in time for
the holidays." PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game were previously
announced as bonuses for consumers of NBA Elite 11, with EA
specifying that an Elite purchase would be "the ONLY way" to play NBA
Jam on these consoles. However, this appears to no longer be the case. Moore also announced today that NBA Elite 11 has been delayed
from its planned October launch; presumably the standalone NBA Jam
releases are being made in response to this. The initial announcement for NBA Jam on the Xbox 360 and
PlayStation 3 indicated that these versions would not contain all of the
same features that will ship on the Wii. It is unclear if this is still
the case, but we will update you when we learn more. Originally posted on 1UP.
