Split/Second Shows Off New Multiplayer Gameplay

The developers behind Pure finally let us try out the multiplayer side of their upcoming, carnage-filled racer.

At a hands-on press event earlier today in San Francisco, publisher Disney Interactive and developer Black Rock Studio held a series of multiplayer races for their upcoming arcade-style racer Split/Second.

Just like in the game's single-player campaign, you charge a Powerplay meter to trigger explosions and route-changing catastrophes on the track in front of you. But there's something infinitely more satisfying about inflicting that damage on and overtaking real people. There's no splitscreen play, and only eight drivers can participate in a race at a time, but with so much carnage and flying metal on screen at one time, even that's a lot to take in at once.
