When Electronic Arts unveiled Shadows of the Damned -- Grasshopper Manufacture's "psychological action thriller" -- a few
days ago, part of the announcement was that the game is in the works for
Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. But in an interview yesterday,
Grasshopper's Goichi Suda revealed that, initially, the game was also
planned for Wii and PC.
When asked about why plans changed, Suda said he couldn't comment, and
he gave a similar answer when asked about how the technology would have
worked on Wii, given that the 360 and PS3 versions run on Unreal Engine
3.
Surprisingly, he claimed that the game -- even though it has been in
development for over two years at this point -- is still on schedule and
hasn't been delayed internally, which seems hard to believe.
Another point of confusion for some fans has been that when
EA/Grasshopper deal was first announced two years ago, the game was
labeled as a "horror" title, but in the trailer shown a few days ago, it
looked much more like an action game. According to Suda, the game has
changed in that regard over the years:
"As we developed the game, we found that it would be a lot better with
action elements. Garcia, the character, is very strong and cool, so we
thought we should probably switch to become more of an action game."
