From the man who brought you Let's Tap and Sonic, comes a platformer about guiding a kiwi past some bridges.

Sonic creator Yuji Naka is back to making 2D platformers. However, it's hard to imagine that the adorable star of his new Japan-released DS and Wii game, Ivy the Kiwi, sprang from the mind of the man who infused Sonic with so much "'90s attitude."

Naka's newest game is a not-entirely-traditional 2D platformer. While there are obstacles to avoid and objects to collect, players don't actually control the titular kiwi. Ivy will march on regardless of the dangers ahead -- if he encounters a wall, he'll turn around. The player's job is to create new surfaces for Ivy to walk on in order to ensure that he makes it to his goal -- think Kirby: Canvas Curse meets Lemmings.

The game has not yet been confirmed for release outside of Japan. Naka's last game, Let's Tap, made it stateside -- however, that game was published by Sega. Ivy the Kiwi is being put out by Namco-Bandai and the final decision probably rests with them.
