Never invite a Nazi zombie to your abandoned bunker.
In Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies for the iPhone and iTouch, players will hunker down in "Nacht der Untoten" from the zombie mode of the World at War console version.
You fend off never-ending waves of zombie attacks to see how many points you can rack up. The game also includes online and local multiplayer modes; having additional players is almost essential in progressing past a certain point in the game, because one player alone can't really handle all the enemies.
The game looks and sounds great on the iPhone and is an impressive base for Activision to build on.
Unfortunately I think asking people to fork over $10 for just one level is asking a bit too much. The promise of downloadable content means paying more for more maps, something that probably should have been in the initial game, considering the top tier fee.
Controls are a breeze and the game handles incredibly well. You'll move your character via a virtual joystick on the left side of the screen and change your perspective and aim by dragging your hand across the right side of the screen. The game has some built in assists that will snap your gun's aim to oncoming zombies, allowing the player to focus more on killing and less on the iPhone's potential control limitations.
CoD:WaW: Zombies is a nice diversion and a good way to spend your time on a commute or when you have a few spare moments. It's not big on value and its connection to Call of Duty is somewhat tenuous, but it's a quality and fun experience for iPhone gamers that want a shooter.
