There is so little about Call of Duty's essence in Modern Warfare: Mobilized. Sure you have military teams racing to stop an enemy and you hit land, air and sea to foil their nuclear plans, but that describes every post 24 TV show, movie and game. A generic military shooter by any other name is still a generic military shooter.

Mobilized is an exercise in hand endurance and flexibility. With one hand, you grip the DS, using the d-pad or buttons to control your character's movements and fire weapons. The other hand holds the stylus, controlling perspective and reloading. Just writing it out causes phantom hand cramps.

The ability to control vehicles, Predator drones and turrets isn't enough to elevate the routine shooting segments. After running through generic warehouse after abandoned village building and going through the simple steps of ducking, coming around a corner and shooting an enemy over and over, you'll want something more.

The voices, music and world design are really great technical feats and push the capabilities of the DS. Years later, this little system keeps on surprising, particularly with the game's online multiplayer mode's and variety of modes. This is where developer n-space really mimics the console Call of Duty to great success.

Mobilized is a mixed bag. It's not enough to stand out, but it really tries hard to replicate the console shooter experience.
