Alexander Ashford/Nosferatu

The biological "father" of twins Alexia and Alfred Ashford, Alexander Ashford sought to rejuvenate the honor and public status of the Ashford family line by providing a lineage that was second to none. Well-versed in genetic manipulation, Alexander "gave birth" to Alexia and Alfred by taking DNA from the corpse of the family matriarch, Veronica Ashford, combining it with an unfertilized embryo, and then implanting it in a surrogate mother. Veronica, well known for her genius, passed on her profound nature to what would have been her great-grandchildren as well as her own children.

Though only Alexia Ashford came to inherit her great-grandmother's brilliance, both Alexia and Alfred came to despise their father when they inadvertently gained knowledge of their birth. The twins then injected their father with the T-Veronica Virus, turning him into a hideously deformed creature that was referred to by employees at the Antarctic base as Nosferatu.

Nosferatu was consigned into a dark, chilled pit in the base where he lived chained to a wall for over twenty years. When Alfred Ashford, after being shot by Steve Burnside, fell into the same pit, Alexander Ashford/Nosferatu flew into a rage and tore his chains from the wall. As Nosferatu raged through the Antarctic base he encountered Claire Redfield, who slew him with a bullet from Alfred's beloved sniper rifle.
