Take a trip back in time with some classic adventure games from
the sorely missed Sierra On-Line. Sarien.net's got enough browser versions of
classic games to keep you distracted from a month's worth of menial tasks.
Check out games from the King's Quest,
Space Quest, Police Quest, and Leisure
Suit Larry series, all of which have the added benefit of sitting patiently
without killing you should you need to minimize the window without much notice.
You can also save your game via browser bookmarks. Plus, Sarien sounds like
some sort of insomnia medicine, so it's unlikely your boss will take any notice
should she monitor your internet usage.

Should you be in the unfortunate position of having to share
a cubicle or sit where others can see your screen, check out
Can'tYouSeeImBusy.com for games disguised as actual work. Cost Cutter makes it look like you're working on a spreadsheet
while you're really playing a block-based puzzler. Sure, it's been done before,
but everybody needs one of these in their work game arsenal.

Neptune's Pride is
a free, browser-based real-time strategy game drawn out over several weeks. Using
your Google account, you can log in at any time to issue commands or check your
resources as you form paper-thin alliances with other real life players in a
bid to take over the galaxy. It's made by some guys who used to work at
Irrational Games (BioShock, System Shock 2) and obviously know the
value of bringing depth and meaning to a usually throwaway game platform.
