In Goichi Suda's insane, self-parodic GameCube cult classic, you take on the roles of six highly-trained assassins, each packing their own kind of heat. Of course, nothing is ever as it seems and each of these killers may only be figments of one man's imagination, but that's not germane to the sequence we're talking about - the one-on-one gunfight between Dan Smith and Curtis Blackburn at the end of the "Encounter" mission. After pumping hundreds of bullets into Curtis's sister Ayame, the legendary assassin himself only takes four well-placed shots to put down. The closest thing to a real Wild West gunfight that video games have ever seen. Dan needs to wait, finger on the trigger until the pigeon on Curtis's shoulder takes off before he can fire. Shoot too early, or too late, and you lose. The sheer tension and cinematic beauty of this sequence rivals any standoff in any other media - and best of all, you're in control.
