DC honchos Geoff Johns and Eddie Berganza sat behind a large Green Lantern Power Battery movie prop (which they joked cost $180,000), but they were here to roll-up their sleeves to talk serious nerdass sh*t about Green Lantern comics.
They had just a few prepared statements. After hyping the current "War of the Lanterns" arc (expect behind-the-mask moments with the four Green Lanterns of Earth) and "Brightest Day" (the true White Lantern will be revealed next week - and it isn't what you expect), and announcing that Ivan Reis and Joe Prado will be doing the art of Johns' forthcoming Aquaman series, they went straight to audience questions.
Upcoming? More Larfleeze and his backstory. Anyone who's been reading about the greedy Orange Lantern ought to be excited about this.
Also: Hal will visit the home planet of the mysterious Indigo Tribe, and we'll learn a lot more about what exactly their rings can do. We imagine lots of thin and mystical goings-on.
Johns swears that some day Red Lantern kitten Dex-Starr will fight Krypto.
What else can we expect? "There's a lot going on with Mogo." "Definitely more backstory of the other Corps." "Hal Jordan and Bruce Wayne are going to have a no-hold barred fight soon - no rings, no utility belt." "We're gonna' learn more about Sinestro's lost-love, Abin Sur's sister." "You may see someone reading all the rings at once. He'll be very colorful."
All of this is awesome. Also, if you saw the "first Lantern" that Krona had in a flashback in a very recent issue, there will be more detail on this coming soon. (Also, why did the Guardians used to be normal size but now are shrunk? "They evolved. But you'll soon learn more.")
The only disappointment? Try getting an answer out of "is one of the Green Lanterns of Earth gonna' die?" Also, "not much involvement from Alan Scott, he's busy with the JSA and JLA right now." But I imagine not too many people are upset about this.
Also: the Green Lantern ride being built at the Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey? You ride "through a Parallax at the end," but Ganthet knows what that means, exactly.
Many fans took time to mention their love of Lafleeze. One fan had an Orange Lantern tattoo that Johns signed, and another offered a suggestion for an Orange Lantern oath ("Mine!") There was around of applause regarding the Larfleeze Christmas One-Shot - and calls for a forthcoming Atrocitus Valentine's Day special.
