Key Enablers

NextStep have been very aware of recently emerging trends, not only in the Higher Education sector, but in Technology as a whole. The convergence of two trends provide the cornerstone of NextStep's solution.

Software As A Service (SAAS)

SAAS is a model of software deployment whereby we provide our application to customers for use as a service on demand. By adopting this model, NextStep provides several important benefits.

  • On-demand licensing enables software to become a reasonably priced expense, rather than a substantial capital expense at the time of purchase.
  • The on demand licensing enables the benefits of commercially licensed use via a web browser without the associated complexity and potential high initial cost of equipping every computer where the application might be used.
  • This model eliminates the need for end-users to download patches and upgrades. NextStep manages all of this for you.

Cloud Computing

Simply put, Cloud Computing has allowed NextStep to pass cost savings onto the customer. By adopting this technology, flexible, dynamic and secure database environments are easily created, both for our internal development needs and also for the production needs of our customers.

"The cloud model offers a much cheaper way for businesses to acquire and use IT" said IDC Analyst and Senior VP Frank Gens, "In an economic downturn, the appeal of that cost advantage will be greatly magnified".
