This picture shows how locations fit in with facilities in your Kenandy company structure:

When you create locations, you also make decisions about whether you use bins in that location and how those bins are tracked.

Before you add locations, you must have the following set up:

• Facilities

Add locations to Kenandy when:

• You're first setting up your company record
• You're reorganizing the physical space in a facility and need Kenandy to reflect the changes
• You've got a new facility

To add a location, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Locations page, and click New.
   
2. Enter the following information: 
   • Facility: The facility this location is in.
   • Location: The name of this location.
   • Description (optional): A little bit more information about this location, especially if the name of the location isn't clear.
3. Choose whether this location is nettable. Nettable indicates this location’s inventory is counted, and is available to fulfill sales orders and work orders, and to MRP to plan for future fulfillment needs. Non-nettable locations are for inventory that’s not counted.
4. Make choices about bins in this location.

5. Click Save.

Kenandy creates the location.

What Comes Next

When you set up a location, you must make choices about how you're going to track bins in that location. After you've done this, you cannot change those choices when you're setting up or modifying bins in that location.

Here are the bin settings you need to consider when setting up or modifying a location: 

• Bin Tracked
  Will this location have bins? If not, leave this option blank.
  
• Track Bin Capacity
  Do you want to keep track of the amount of items in bins in this location? If not, leave this option blank.
  
• Mixed Bins Allowed
  Do you want to store more than one kind of item in a bin in this location? If not, leave this option blank.
  

The following table lists the fields that Kenandy provides. Your system administrator selects the fields that are displayed on your user interface.

Location Detail Field Descriptions

Field	Description
Bin Tracked	Select this checkbox if this location has discrete bins you use to store items. Clear this checkbox if you store items throughout this location and don't need to track specifically where in the location things are. A bin can be a physical bin, a shelf, a slot, or any other section of this location.
Description	Optional. A description of this location that helps Kenandy users at your company understand what this location is used for.
Facility	The facility where this location exists. The lookup icon displays a list of available facilities.
Location	The name of the location.
Mixed Bins Allowed	Select this option if you want to be able to store more than one kind of item in a single bin anywhere in this location.
Nettable	Select this option to make the items you store in this location available to fulfill sales orders and work orders, and available to MRP to plan for future fulfillment needs. Clear this option only if none of the items in this location will be used for sales orders or work orders.
Track Bin Capacity	Select this option if you want to keep track of the amount of items in the bins in this location.
