What do you consider Scoot’s
strongest trait?
Our people. We have a very
mixed team of people from
diverse backgrounds, age groups,
experiences, personalities and
different degrees of Scootitude.
Ground Services is comprised of
a bunch of very crazy people. We
work looooooong hours to see to the
operations, but we certainly have fun
doing so.
What do you consider your
greatest achievement?
Setting up Scoot’s network
from nothing to 11 stations over
a span of 13 months. It’s been very
challenging, exciting and fun working
with all of our service partners to
establish our service expectations,
and fulfilling the various requirements
of the airports that we fly to. The
ground services team started with
only three people!
What inspires you to get up and
go to work in the morning?
I don’t! I work non-stop,
operations are 24/7, so I am
always on my mobile device checking
mail and monitoring the various ops
reports. Yes, I have slept in the office;
working 36 hours at a stretch! So has
my team!
What is your favourite Scoot
city?
Bangkok. The colourful culture,
beautiful scenery; pleasant
people, great-tasting food. And, when
I’m in the mood, I spend money on
the wonderful stuff there is to buy in
amazing Thailand.
What would make up the
perfect holiday?
Being left on an island or
beach resort with perfect
weather, great company, nice
environment, wonderful food and
doing absolutely nothing except
reading some great books. There
would definitely be no internet for
work… but there is always SMS!
What piece of travel gear could
you not live without?
My pocket mobile Wi-Fi device.
We can’t live without the internet
these days.
What would be on the menu for
your last meal?
Noodle soup. Any sort of noodle
soup.
If you could change something
about Scoot, what would it be?
Change our office! Give me an
office with a view of the runway
so that we can see the aircrafts
landing and taking off. Most airline
offices are like caves with no windows.
If you could change the
passenger’s travelling behaviour,
what would it be?
The aviation industry is highly
regulated and there are many,
many, many checklists to be verified
and coordinating efforts that have
to be completed before the aircraft
door is closed. Thus it would be very
much appreciated if our guests could
check in and report to the gate as
early as possible.
In line with Scoot’s “Get
outta here!”, what is your own
personal slogan?
The best is yet to be, the
best has yet to come! Let’s
enjoy life!”
