It was while on a business
trip to Singapore that
amateur photographer
Lucas Keene captured this
shot of shipping containers
at the port. Keene was being
whisked around offices in
one of the city
’
s high-rises
when he noticed that the
stacks of brightly coloured
containers looked like Lego
when seen from above.
As the second busiest
seaport globally (after
Shanghai), Singapore trans-
ships one-fifth of the
world
’
s shipping containers
—
over 32,000 units, each
with a capacity equivalent
to a 20ft-long container,
passed through in 2013.
By using a tilt-shift effect,
Lucas makes the containers
look even smaller, which
only emphasises the vast
number stacked and
waiting to be shipped.
