AmericanAirlines and its future.
In fact, it’s thenewaircraft that
prompted changes inour look. For
decades, American’s fleet hashad
apolishedaluminumexteriorwith
American’sdistinctive red,whiteandblue
livery. But soonwewill be flyingBoeing
787s andAirbusA350s, two larger aircraft
thatwewill useon someof ourmost
important, longest-range routes all over
theworld. Thebodieson thosehigh-tech
planes aremadeout of carbon fiber in-
steadof aluminum, so thepolished-metal
lookwon’tworkgoing forward.
Aswemove forward,wewill
remember toembraceour past.We
plan topaint some “heritage” aircraft—
modernplanespaintedwith logos from
thepast fromairlines that have formed
today’sAmerican. Already,weare fly-
ing jetswithpaint schemes fromPSA,
Piedmont, AmericaWest andAllegheny,
and in the futureweplan to introduce
TWA, RenoAir andAirCal aircraft,while
keepingoneplane in theUSAirways
livery.Wehave teammemberswhobe-
gan their careers at eachof these carriers
working forAmerican today. Theyare
proudof their heritage, andweareproud
tohave themon theAmericanAirlines
team.
Onbehalf of all of us atAmerican
Airlines, thankyou for flyingwithus today.
Wehopeyouenjoyyour travels, andwe
look forward to seeingyouonanother
flightwithus again soon.

our planes anew
look togoalongwith thenew
airline.
Most of our fleet isget-
tinga fresh coat of paint, includingUS
Airwaysplanes,whicharebeingpainted
inAmerican’s colors andnew logo. It’s
ahugeproject thatwill take thenext
coupleof years. It’s alsoanearlyexample
of how 100,000peopleareworking to-
gether to turn thepromiseof thismerger
intoa realityand restoreAmerican to the
greatest airline in theworld.
Thanks toourmerger,which closed
at theendof last year, our customers are
benefiting fromabigger,more connected
networkof destinations, includingour
newest, HongKong. Thatwider network,
whichwasmadeeven largerwhenUS
Airways joinedAmerican in the
one
world
alliance inMarch, translates intomore
opportunities toearnand redeemmiles in
theAAdvantageprogram.
Customers are alsobenefiting from
new aircraft at American. On average,
twonewplanes arrive eachweek. They
are replacingolder aircraft, and the re-
sult is that American is going tohaveone
of the youngest fleets in thebusiness.
One of the things I likemost about
this new livery is theway it represents
thepeople of our airline. Our team
members voted for the new flagon
the tail, whichwill replaceAmerican’s
old logo. Thepassionour people feel
about their airline and howwe represent
ourselves to theworld is inspiring, and
it shows howdeeply they care about
