Capella’s Pacific-front beachwasn’t easy to comeby,
you learnwhenentering theproperty: The resort is accessi-
ble via aprivate tunnel that separates the townof Cabo
San Lucas from theexclusive setting. And, in fact, the
resort feelsmiles away from civilization (even though shop-
ping and restaurants are amerefive-minutewalk).
You’ll have time tofinish yourwelcomemargarita as you
walk theexpansive, indigenously landscapedgrounds to
your room. If awalk tooneof theproperty’s four pools
seems too taxing thanks to the aforementionedbeverage,
fret not: Eachof the96 rooms, suites, and villas has its own
privateplunge-pool-with-a-view.
Dinner at the cliffsideEl Farallon is amust (even if
you aren’t so fortunate as tobe staying at CapellaPedre-
gal), where you select oneof the fresh catches of seafood
displayedon ice a la seasidefishmarkets. And theAuriga
Spa isworld-class, with treatment rooms almost floating
above its privatepool.
Of course, service iswhat really sets apart a star
property. Andnodetail is too small for the attentive staff
of Capella tooverlook.On a recent stay, oneguest in the
groupwas gluten-free, and the resortmade sureevery
meal (including the complimentary chips and fresh-made
guacamole that await you in your roomeach afternoon) and
poolside snackhadgluten-free alternatives. Star treatment,
indeed.
