Thispiece,calledStone, reflects the radiantgraniteuponwhich the
cityofPorto isbuilt.Thehandcraftedwoodensideboard iscovered in
gold leaf,anddoorsopen to reveal a lushbluesatin interior (andwill set
youbackacool€14,500).“ToobservePorto is to rediscover the images
of ahiddendreamweholdwithinus,”says itscreator,adding that the
blue interior reflects the riverDouro.

Thomasset.Onedayback in2002, hewas sketchingprojects inanotebookwhen it struck
himhow rigidandgridlike theywere. Sohe resolved to shake thingsupabit.
