As the drilling load increases, the load indicator will change in color from green to orange to red. In addition, if excessive feeding force is applied, the load indicator will rapidly blink red and the rotation of the drill motor will slow down and temporarily stop. If the load is released while the load indicator is blinking red, the drill motor will resume its rotation.

Some mag drills are not capable of reaching 1-1/8, but most can tap to 3/4".
Although mag drills are intended to be used with Annular Cutters, many can also use solid twist drill bits. The minimum size and power of your mag drill will depend on whether you use solid drill bits or annular cutters.
It is a good idea for drill bits to be used at a slow speed when drilling through metal. Drill bits for harder metals such as steel and larger diameters require slower speeds. A small twist bit (1/16 inch) is all you need. You can drill through most metals at a speed of 1/16 in. to 3/16 In. You can drill through most metals at 3,000 RPM.
