Silas S. Dobbs was born on December 6, 1822 in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia.2 He was the son of Mormon Dobbs and Sarah Cape.1 He married Nancy Salinas Fountain on July 5, 1846 in Cherokee County, Georgia.1 He died on September 14, 1891 in Crooked Oak, Tuscumbia County, Alabama, at age 68.2
