Lawrence Blanchard was born about 1816 in France.1 He married Marguerite Duplain.
Lawrence Blanchard was also known as Lorenzo Blancherd. Lawrence Blanchard was also known as Lawrence Blanchat. He and Louis Jeanin-Gaume appeared as neighbors on the census of 1860 in Black Creek, Holmes County, Ohio.2 In June of 1863 he arrested as a ringleader in the Holmes County Rebellion, an anti-draft uprising during the Civil War, and charged with treason for the armed assault on US enrollement officer. He was found guilty sentenced to hard labor. He later received a Presidential pardon.3
